Fat Canary
"Oh for a bowl of Fat Canary, rich Palermo, sparkling sherry."
When the ships sailed from the Old World to the New, they stopped in the Canary Islands for supplies. One of the important provisions brought aboard was wine, referred to as “Canary.” Our restaurant is named after a reference in the Colonial Era playwright John Lyly's poem.
Located in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg, Fat Canary has received the AAA Four Diamond award each year since opening in 2003.
We are open for dinner service at 5pm Wednesday through Sunday. Reservations are recommended for our main dining room and bar.
Reservations may be made at Opentable.com or by calling the restaurant at 757-229-3333. A host is available Wednesday through Sunday starting at noon.
Downstairs at Fat Canary is an in-person check-in for our waitlist for both the dining room and bar. A host will be available starting at 4:30 to take names in-person for our first seating that begin at 5pm.
Our Facebook page will keep up to date postings on any closings that may occur. We look forward to seeing you and we thank you for your patronage!
